first time I cried in years over a death of someone I didn't know personally. I grew up on Dragonriders of Pern. She gave me and many others so much joy with her books, so much inspiration, she was the one of the reasons why I love fantasy genre as much as I do. Rest in peace, Anne.

Anne McAffrey - noted author of many things Dragony has passed away at age 85. Hence a pic of Ratters on a Dragon, a fitting tribute.
And a white dragon at that.
Now I'm crying all over again... So many worlds have opened up to me since that first time I read Dragonflight when I was 13...
There will never be adequate words to convey the effect her work had on me...
A long life that brightened the days of many people.
Salute.
Of herself, Ms McCaffrey warns: "My eyes are green, my hair is silver and I freckle; the rest is still subject to change without notice."
Alas, the change is no more... sleep tight Anne.

A fitting tribute - I had not heard the news, but the headline and picture told me what had happened. Go well, Anne.
