Desolace

Don't matter what species ya is ...... it's still a bunghole.

I haven't been there yet myself, but so many of my friends say the same thing... I plan to avoid the place. Unlife is dreary enough without spending time in intrinsically depressing places. (Note, I don't consider Undercity to be intrinsically depressing - it looks interesting and feels like home!)

And thank you for visiting my diary and leaving some comments, Ratshag dear! It made me feel all loved. ^_^

Woah!

Desolace is the PRIME level 30-35 area for me. So pretty and TREELESS. So awesome and TREELESS. So lacking in TREES.

No dumb camera issues.... few people.... I loves it.

The only thing it needs is a better quest set that are a little bit more grouped. But thats okay because the second best area(Dustwallow Marsh) has all the good quest you will ever need.

Even if it has those HORRIBLE TREES.

I've done Desolace on every character since my first.

I prefer it tons to Stranglegank Vale

It always has been a bunghole and always will be. Its called the Desolace for a reason and rightly so. I try to avoid it because its depressing but then again its an alternative to being STV ganked. Not quite as good quest rewards though

Couldn't agree with you more, Ratter. It's an awful place and I resented every quest I had to do there. Unfortunately, what with the Plaguelands and Blasted Lands and whatnot, it only gets worse from there.

I really dont understand why everybody is so down on Desolace. It's one of my favorite leveling zones. And yes I liked even when I was playing on a PvE server.

If you go there in the mid 30s, you can do all the quests there in an afternoon. 1-2 Levels worth of XP, very few people around competing for the mobs. And I kinda enjoy the scenery.

But maybe that's an Undead thing :)

The only thing I hate about Desolace is that (for Alliance) the quest givers are at one end of the zone, and the quest MOBS are generally at the other. Running back and forth with no mount is definitely not my idea of fun. And don't even get me started on Mara. Noooo thank you.

The quest mobs requiring you to walk accross the entire expanse of wonderful tree-less area is not an alliance only thing. This zone is particularly bad about:

"Hey you go kill me something on the OTHER SIDE.... I don't want to have to walk over there".

Still... little to no trees. Gosh how I love the place.

Done Desolace on most of my toons to avoid STV (most alts get stuck at 32 just because of that zone) but recently i found another advantage: low change at getting ganked!
My horde lock is on a PvP server and 75% of my time in STV i was seeing things in black and white.

Without Desolace she would still be just level 32. (39 now, thanks to Dustwallow Marsh)

Best reason to go to Desolace is for the Big Iron Fishing pole.

But there is a kodo graveyard! And you can get a kodo to follow you around! And you can make different centaurs like you for little to no reward! :D

Yeah, I only quested there for the kodo.

@ dammer - I had wondered. Hubby and I brought our hordies there very briefly before getting thoroughly depressed with the grayness of it all. I have a mage quest that's going to make me go back there that I am avoiding like the plague.

I prefer trees and kitties to blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah myself :D Plus STV has ZG, and that was one of the most fun places for me, like, ever. So I suppose I'm a bit biased :D

Word: STV
Deffinition:
1-hundreds-meelions alliance buggers just waiting to smush you.

Trees everywhere waiting to ATTACK your camera.

Sneaky-bugger-tigers waiting to make you waste your time smushing them instead of getting out of STV.

Dammerung said...

What is ZG?

No worries about the bias, if everyone was like me I would probably spend my time leveling in STV and hating the trees.

o my. ZG is a 20-man lv 60 raid.. back pre-bc it was my favoritest ever and ever. It was a lot like ZA except more um.. jungly, not so much foresty. Always a good time though, fo sho!
