Agreed they don't hold aggro worth nothing and they die rather easily if you don't intervene.

When I free them I feel obligated to not let them suicide against one of the naga, so I clear the area for them. After I leave they're on their own.
LOL. True, true. And they always seem to get in the way of my auto-critting chain lightnings. Poor little buggers...
