I don't have profficiency for such weapons (I don't know which end of the axe I'm supposed to hold) but I will happily wave my mace in a threatening fashion and melt faces with my shadow magic to solve troublesome situations :)
Best reason for killing things though: "It was in my way." Now that's diplomacy.

I was amused seeing Star Fleet Battles actually showed up on one of those posters. I used to play that game religiously. Heck, I even got some of my designs published in the official cannon!

I'd say arrows, swords, face melting, and everythings else all fall within the spirit of the thing.
